IALA Transitions to an IGO

Published 22-08-2024

On August 22, 2024, it is official that IALA has become an Intergovernmental Organization (IGO).

IALA is therefore changing its name from IALA (The International Association of Marine Aids to Navigation and Lighthouse Authorities) to the International Organization for Marine Aids to Navigation.

IALA has been a non-governmental international organization since 1957 and has set the framework for agreements on standards for Marine Aids to Navigation. As a long-standing member, Denmark has fully supported the Change of Status process, particularly with the aim of strengthening IALA's decision-making power and influence in addressing future challenges related to navigation and maritime safety.
